For Teaching Chinese Language
AMMAN – Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Confucius Institute (TAG-Confucius) and Marshall
International Schools signed a strategic
cooperation agreement aimed at integrating the teaching of Chinese language
into the Schools’ curricula. The agreement was signed by Mr. Mamoun Abu Al-Sebaa,
TAG-Confucius executive director, and Mr. Salah Hijazi,
General Manager of the Schools, in a step that reflects both parties’ shared
commitment to advancing education, promoting multilingual competencies, and strengthening
cultural exchange.
According to the
agreement, teaching Chinese language will be introduced as a basic subject
starting from the second semester of the 2025–2026 academic year for Grades 1
and 7 students, with gradual expansion to include additional grade levels in
the coming years.
In this context, Mr.
Abu Al-Sebaa expressed his pride in this partnership, emphasizing that
cooperation with the Schools; one of the region’s leading educational
institutions, would effectively make new educational opportunities for
students. He stated, “Learning the Chinese language opens broad channels and
provides students with great opportunities across various fields, including
commerce, culture, and diplomacy, especially in light of China’s rapidly
growing role on the international stage.”
He further noted
that the Institute will enable a number of Marshall International Schools’
students to participate in the annual summer camp held in Beijing and Shenyang
to enrich the practical experience of learning the Chinese language and
culture.
For his part, Mr. Hijazi
expressed welcomed the cooperation, stating, “We strongly believe in the importance
of multilingual education. Learning the Chinese language is not limited to
learning a new skill, rather it contributes to strengthening cultural
understanding and positive engagement with the world. We believe this
collaboration will enable our students to explore a new culture and further enrich
their linguistic capabilities.”
He went on to add
that the agreement stipulates organizing a number of programs that support
teaching Chinese language, including workshops and diverse cultural activities.
Such initiatives aim to enhance language learning while also providing students
with a comprehensive educational experience that contributes to the development
of their life skills.
It is worth
mentioning that this agreement comes as part of a long-term vision to
strengthen cooperation among educational institutions and to build generations
capable to engage in dialogue and cross-cultural activities. It also reflects
both parties’ commitment to providing an interactive and advanced learning
environment that serves students across various age groups, in light of the
growing global importance of the Chinese language.
